  18. Did you try turning off the Operator/Call Minder software?  This is an
  19. application that loads when Windows starts, and it is what allows the
  20. answering machine/fax/speakerphone software to work properly on incoming
  21. calls.  It's quite likely that this app is interfering with the comm port
  22. access of Trumpet Winsock.  This isn't an issue if an external (or for that
  23. matter, _any_ other) modem is used, since the Operator software doesn't
  24. load if it doesn't detect the Presario modem.
